The course:

This is a 100% asynchronous (pre-recorded) course which focuses on providing teachers with the necessary theoretical background to understand key aspects of English phonology and also with practical ideas to help teachers teach pronunciation*.

The course covers the following areas: phonemes and phonemic symbols; vowel sounds; consonant sounds; manner and place of articulation; word and sentence stress; elements of connected speech; intonation; pronunciation and spelling; varieties of English pronunciation; pronunciation and listening; and more.

The course comprises:

  • video lessons;
  • practical ideas on how to teach the topic being discussed;
  • extra materials (texts, videos, games etc.) to help you further your knowledge of every topic;
  • quizzes at the end of every lesson;
  • contact with the tutor via email and via an exclusive WhatsApp group every step of the way.

*While the ideas discussed during the course might be useful for younger learners as well, the context of the course is teaching adults, both in groups and one-to-one.
